But RL17 I feel would be a great choice for the heavies in 7mm-08, 162gr-180gr... Extremely accurate. The factory ammo available cripples it IMO. It will shoot those 160-170 class for sure, not sure on the bullets above that as far as velocity and twist rate. My wife's 7mm-08 shoots the Nosler factory 140 gr AccuBond load sub-MOA, and the hand load that DrMike developed for her rifle is the 140 gr Sierra Pro Hunter over 47.2 gr of IMR4350 and F210M primers at 2.276" coal, produces 1/2, groups. She is impatiently waiting to harvest her first animal with her rifle.

I got a M788 that I threw together a generic load for with Varget that worked well in 2 other 7mm-08's. It put the first 5 shots I took with it at 100 at just a smidge under an inch with that load. My wife and I both hunt with the 7mm-08, we have identical Rem 700 SPS Buckmasters with 24" barrels. Both shoot sub half MOA with the 139gr SST and with the 120gr Balliatic Tip. - 41.0gr of IMR-4064 with the 139gr SST, WLR primers.
